Our Journey

Printing Philosophy

Our studio is staffed by practicing artists with top notch technical skills and an eye for the current trends in the art world. We produce prints using the newly designed Epson digital wide-format pigment printers. This technique is called giclée printing and is a museum-grade technique compared to the typical dye-based inks found in standard printers.

A founding principle at Jeremy Does Art Prints (JDAP) is that by using the highest quality materials from the beginning, we can produce truly sensational gallery and museum quality art prints. At the studio we use only certified genuine materials: from Epson UltraChrome HD pigment ink technology to Epson and Hahnemühle certified printing stocks. This ensures that our prints are long lasting: up to 200 years (colour) & 400 years (B&W) with proper care.

We stand by our use of giclée. Due to recent advances in pigment ink technology, Epson’s giclée prints rival the lifespan of traditional silver halide (chromogenic) prints.

Our technicians (or as we like to call them, “master pressmen/women”) stay abreast on the latest advances in techniques and equipment. Our equipment is meticulously maintained and colour-calibrated in order to produce the crispest, sexiest prints possible!

Stretched Canvas Prints

Our technicians hand-stretch our canvas prints over wooden stretchers, 1.5” inches in thickness. This creates a sleek, upscale look that mimics contemporary art. It’s got a real je ne sais quoi, if we may say so!

We print using authentic Epson archival pigments on acid-free Epson cotton poly-blend canvas. This means your final art work can easily last to 100 years with proper care.

Each of our stretched canvas prints includes a test strip and some artist technician computer time for minor corrections and enhancements.

Have a specific size or thickness in mind and don’t see it below? Just let us know, we are capable of doing sizes up to a 38’’ width.

About

We are a boutique-sized digital printing studio located in the Lower Junction, the newly minted gallery district of Toronto, Canada, directly across from the Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto Canada (MOCA). The business is the love child of Jeremy Tsang, a practising contemporary artist and photography alumni of NSCAD University, one of Canada’s best-respected art schools.

Jeremy has exhibited across Canada, including St. Mary’s University Art Gallery (Halifax), John B. Aird Gallery & Gallery 1313 (Toronto), to Latitude 53 (Edmonton). His large scale public art installations have been exhibited from Cape Breton’s Lumière, Halifax’s Nocturne, Windsor’s W.A.V.E.S., Fort McMurray’s igNIGHT, Calgary’s Glow, to Saskatoon’s Placemaker & Nuit Blanche. He was profiled by Maclean’s Magazine as a successful alumnus of NSCAD University working in the contemporary and public art world who has gained the attention of both the general public and art world.
Jeremy’s photographs, videos, text, object-making, reinterpretation of found ephemera, and installations are included in the public collections of the Sobey Art Foundation and Saint Mary’s University Art Gallery as well as in private collections around the world.

JDAP shares its space with DOUBLE HAPPINESS PROJECTS (DHP), a gallery that seeks to support the projects of emerging artists, shining a light on alternative or underrepresented cultural makers and communities. In part, it is borne out of the belief that the Toronto art landscape is in need of a few more casual, yet critical spaces for discourse. With soaring real estate pricing out many galleries, we hope DHP provides the opportunity for experimental interventions by artists, collaborators, curators and the public.

FAQ

What resolution and specs should I send my files in as?

We suggest that you work from the beginning on a properly calibrated monitor with correct ICC profiles to soft proof your images. Because of the very slight differences in monitors and ambient lighting that’s why we made a small test print available to your print job with us. In addition, we suggest your files to be the highest DPI resolution possible: up to 300DPI in 8 bit channel with RGB colour mode, and file type of JPEGs or TIFFs. If you need any more assistance preparing the files, let us know and we offer image processing services.

Is my file resolution enough to print large? How large can I print?

This depends on a number of factors; from its original resolution that the image was captured in, to how large and what media you want to print on. There might be a creative solution, either in the image processing, or in the paper specifications and size. Bring up any concerns or questions you might have during our consultation.

What is soft proofing?

Soft proofing predicts and simulates what your image will look like printed with the specific printer and print media. This involves downloading and installing the specific ICC profile for the media you want your images to be printed on and choosing that profile in your “proof setup” options.

How do I send my files?

There are a number of ways to get your large print files to us:
・Drop by our studio with your files on a CD, DVD, USB thumb drive or external hard drive.
・Upload your files to an online drive and share the link with us (i.e. Google Drive, Dropbox, Skydrive, WeTransfer)
